14 IPKARTING CHASSIS AT THE START OF THE WSK MASTER SERIES

There were 7 Praga Kart, 2 RS Kart and 4 Formula K drivers at the Adria Karting Raceway for the first round of the WSK Super Master Series.

There was a large group of IPKarting chassis in the first round of the 2019 WSK Super Master Series, which took place from 1 to 3 February at the Adria Karting Raceway.
With the exception of Ariel Elkin (Formula K Junior Team), who took to the track in the OKJ class, all the other drivers competed in the hard-fought Mini class, succeeding managing to stand out during the various phases of the weekend’s racing.

Praga Kart

The Praga Kart Racing Team fielded 7 drivers: Gerasim Skulanov, Andrei Nikandrov, Petr Ageev, Louis Iglesias, Adrian Malheiro, Aleksandar Bogunovic and Leonardo Liuzzi. Out of all of them, only the latter two paid for their inexperience and were unable to qualify for the finals. The others easily manage to get to the final stages of the weekend, with some qualifying for the B Final (Skulanov, Nikandrov and Ageev) and two for the main final (Malheiro and Iglesias).
In the end, the best result was achieved by Malheiro, who was very fast in his pre-final, where he managed to finish in sixth place, and 14th at the chequered flag. He also scored of a victory in the heats.
Iglesias was even better in the pre-final, climbing up 8 places to finish in 5th. However, a few set backs in the final saw him slide to 23rd place.

RS Kart

One of the contenders in the Final is another IPKarting chassis: the one branded RS Kart and driven by the standard-bearer of the Schumacher Junior Team, Guillaume Bouzar. The Frenchman finished 39th after the qualifying heats, then 13th place in his pre-final and thereby managed to get into the final (in which he came 31st).
The Schumacher Junior Team was also represented in Adria by Gabriele Garozzo, who got off to a flying start by finishing 7th in qualifying, only to stumble into some trouble in the heats, which saw him finish in 41st place. 20th place in his pre-final gained him entry to the B Final, in which he played a starring role and crossed the finish line in 5th.

Formula Kart

The Formula K Junior Team fielded 4 drivers: Mark Koziaev, Platon Kostin, Anatoly Khavalkin and Ilia Dunin. For different reasons, the latter two were unable to reach the finals, despite on occasion demonstrating the worth of the material available to them. Things went better for Koziaev, who climbed 13 places in the pre-final and almost managed to qualify for the final. However, he had to settle for the B Final, in which he finished 13th. Kostin, on the other hand, made it to the final after starring in an excellent pre-final that saw him climb 16 places, finishing 15th. He finished 29th in the final.

OKJ

As mentioned, there was only one IPK chassis in the OK-Junior class, branded Formula K and driven by Ariel Elkin. The Israeli driver was unable to take to track for qualifying, but managed to finish in 13th place after a string of excellent performances in the heats, which always saw take the chequered flag in the top ten. A subsequent 10th place in his pre-final earned him qualification to the final, in which he finished 25th having been awarded a penalty.
